They’ve got issues
ReplyDeleteThe story that I am reading is “Big Nate on a Roll”. The issue in the story is that almost everything Nate does, this boy named Artur beats him at it. If they are playing a game, Artur beats him. If they are having a contest, Artur wins. Nate has had enough of Artur. But he doesn’t know what to do.
Dear Romario,
I have a problem. Every time I am doing something fun, Autur comes in. When I play a game he comes and wins. When I am in a contest he comes and wins. You haven’t even read the worst part. HE DOESN’T EVEN WIN ON PURPOSE!!!! All he does is know that he is having fun. That is the part that gets me. I just can’t take it anymore. What do you think I should do?
From, Nate
Dear Nate,
I know that you are frustrated about Artur. Even so, you have to give it time. Someday there will be sometiong that you will beat him with. He can’t be good at everything. Maybe you could even beat him at a fundraiser. You never know what could happen.
You spelled Artur's name two different ways. What is it supposed to be? Also, pay attention to the sentence requirements from the packet.
DeleteThe story I’m reading about is ‘‘Swindle’’ the issue in the story starts off with the main character Griffin Bing and his best friend, Ben Slovak
ReplyDeleteDear Brandon,
Me and my best friend, Ben Slovak were camping out in an old abandoned mansion. But then while exploring the house, I found a 1920 Babe Ruth baseball card I was hopeful that the baseball card will be able to solve all my family’s financial problems. After all, I’ve heard of old baseball cards selling for a lot of money, and the card was still in good condition. When I took the card to Palomino’s Emporium, a shop owned by S. Wendell Palomino, the collector told me and Ben that it was actually a knockoff of the card from the sixties.I Was crestfallen, but I sold the card for $120 anyway. A couple of days later, I was furious to discover on TV that S. Wendell Palomino (now nicknamed “Swindle”) had swindled me out of an original 1920 card that was worth $974,000! $974,000 would mean the world to me; not only being able to stay in Cedarville, but it would also put my parent’s constant arguments about money to rest forever I can’t stand it when adults take advantage of kids. As Korman the author says, “The main theme of the book is kids taking matters into their own hands.”
Griffin my advice to you is to steal the card back from this thief is going to take a huge amount of effort. Swindle has a tough guard dog named Luthor, a high-tech security system, a fence, and a safe. Griffin you know that you and Ben can’t do it alone.
Griffin you have to comply a team of people from your school whose talents you believe can use to complete the heist and can help you outfox Swindle.
Great start. Please make sure you check for run-on sentences. Also, please abide by the sentence requirements.
DeleteStar Book Review- Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly
ReplyDeleteThe main character in the book is a girl named Serafina. She is soon to be the new queen of a realm called Miromara. Serafina (aka Sera) isn’t sure if she wants to be the new ruler, sometimes she just wants to run away and don’t come back. Sera thinks that she won’t be a good ruler like her mom was, she doesn’t want to let anyone down especially her mother. On the day of her Dokimi, when she becomes queen, crazy things start to happen. People are missing from different kingdoms and Sera’s uncles wants to declare war but her mother says no. During the Dokimi, everything that was feared has happened,
The author uses certain techniques that makes the novel interesting. Since the book is about mermaids and underwater, she makes up words for candy, food, and animals. The author also describes whatever is going on very well, she puts everything into detail without making it boring. Even though the author does have good ways of describing the book, she does jump into everything all at once. In the beginning it was a bit confusing as to what was going on. It was hard to know what was going on at first.
If someone doesn't like mermaids or anything of that sort, they wouldn't enjoy the book. To the people that do, it would be an amazing read. Also, if one doesn't like to read about things that are different from the world we live in it wouldn't be good for them to read it. The author has foods and words that are different than what we do or say. If someone likes to read make belief, or fantasy then they would love this. The book is all about mermaids and sea witches. I give this book 4 stars.
Thank you for following the requirements for a Star Book Review.

ReplyDeleteThe book I read was called unbroken by Paula Morris.
The book was about a girl named Rebecca Brown, apparently she had escaped New Orleans cemetery. Now she has returned to the haunting city. Rebecca sees ghosts, but she was hoping to see Anton grey who may or may not have her heart. She wasn’t expecting to see any ghost but she did. It was a boy with blue eyes who appeared to be murdered by someone. Rebecca wondered why he had came to her. Soon Rebecca finds herself involved in a murder mystery from more than a century ago. She feels like she is putting her friends, family and herself.

DeleteStar Book Review- Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone
ReplyDeleteThe main character in the book is a young boy named named Harry Potter. He is the son of two famous wizards, his mother and father. Harry is a very shy little boy and he is very adventures and also very smart. Harry's main problem is, well in chapter one is trying to find out what was in the letter that kept being delivered to him at his cruel home harry lived in at the time. Just until harry finally got out of the cruel home and went to a place where he loved and was accepted by everyone and was treated fairly and not treated mean. And faced some challenges, that will make him become a great wizard in his future. Harry is very determined to be the best at the place where he is. And he tends to help people a lot, which is one of the best characteristics Harry Potter has, just like his mother and father.
The author uses certain techniques that makes the novel interesting, by his tone in the book and certain words he uses. Which ties in that this is a fantasy genre book.It is based on imagination and fantasy. The author also describes the main focus of the pint in time very well. He puts everything in detail very well and describes harry's feelings towards a situation very well. Without giving away the meaning of it. And that is a good way in my opinion, for a author to write a book!
In my opinion, i feel people who enjoy fantasy and wizards and magical stories or just things in general they will really enjoy this book!! Also, if a person who is serious and who does not like fictional movies or books then they would not enjoy this book. The author in my opinion, honestly makes it very hard for someone to dislike this book. The reason i say this is because , as soon as you read the first page it grabs the readers attention! If i was to rate this book i would give it 5 stars! This book is an very enjoyable book!
Remember, the pronoun "I" should be capitalized. Otherwise, thank you for following the directions as outlined in the requirements.

2. Growing Up is Hard To Do
Reading Response
The main character of this story is 15 year old Izzy Brannick. Izzy Brannick is
a tough, powerful minded girl. Coming from a strong, hard core family Izzy follows in mostly all of their powerful, monster-hunting footsteps. Izzy though is a responsible person, but until this event happened and her mother’s way of reacting, Izzy had to prove her trust again and make this up to her mother. In chapters 1-2 Izzy was completing one her missions until the end of it started to go wrong, because Izzy had explained to her mother about why she had been bitten by a vampire. Izzy's excuse of the young vamp named Pascal so called "getting into her head" didn't really change the fact that her mother was still disappointed in her. The guilt lingered every day in Izzy's head, Izzy finally thought to herself that it was time to do something. So as a caring, self-esteemed about herself type of girl, she was going to prove her responsibility back by completing a new mission that her mother need to figure out how it could've been solved and Izzy took the chance. Finding out why the new town they've moved into Ideal, Mississippi hadn't been normal, Izzy's mother had been worried about why the town had been looking and acting strange, so Izzy took the task as her responsibility and was in deeded to find out answers to complete it. This is Izzy's personality before she changed to begin her mission.
Here's where Izzy's personality starts to change. In the town of Ideal, Mississippi things
were different there that Izzy had to change about herself in order to disguise herself during this mission. First, sense of style, Izzy's classy, casual everyday clothes had to be changed into tight pants, and goth colored clothing that she explains before she enters her new high school in chapter four in order to fit in like the others. Next, Izzy had to change by accepting these close people called "friends" which she never heard of. Until she met her new close friend, Leslie. Leslie had been the one who toured Izzy around Mary Elowey High in chapter five to explain to Izzy the do's and don’ts to not get into trouble by exposing any parts of herself. Izzy understood each part and took Leslie's trust by accepting her as her new "friend." Lastly, was Izzy's love life. As Izzy describes a boy named Dex who everyday made her heart skip a beat once she saw and thought of him, but the feeling was not unusual, which was weird to Izzy because once she met Dex in chapter five, she explains how boys made her feel queasy, but something was different about Dex, which she enjoyed. This is Izzy Brannick's personality now but only for her to able to finish her mission.

Everyone has had a time in their life when they wish they could have said or done something differently. In the book “After,” the point for main character Devon should replay is when she puts the baby in the trash bag. Devon turns out being pregnant without her knowing until she gives birth. Surprised at the situation, Devon thinks quickly and delivers the baby and cleans as best as she can and puts the baby into a trash bag and throws the baby away. The author of the book describes Devon as a perfect, average girl so it’s a surprise that she’d be the one behind attempted murder of an infant. Throughout the book Devon continues to mention the fact that she wishes she was not in jail for not only attempted murder but meeting Connor also and being like her mom. The act she should replay is not deny the fact that she could be pregnant and take control for her actions. If Devon at least took a pregnancy test she could’ve prevented all the pain/horror afterwards for herself and the baby. But then if she did that, then the book would’ve never happened.
Where is the plot summary? It should have been at least 8 sentences. Where is the rewrite of the event? Make sure you follow the requirements exactly as stated on your reading response options.

If I Stay
6. Instant Replay!
The main characters name in the book “If I Stay” is Mia Hall. Ever since Mia was young she played the cello, and enjoys classic music. Everything was going great for Mia Hall, she had a great boyfriend named Adam, and a loving family until one day her family goes on a road trip to her grandparent’s house and a fatal car accident happened and all of her family was rushed to the hospital. Mia goes in a coma and has to make the biggest decision of her life. Later on Mia finds out that her mother and father were dead on scene at the accident, and she then begins to brakes down into tears. Mia then checks on her brother too see if he is okay and then an hour later the doctor tells her that her brother (Teddy) died. After that Adam and Mia’s bestfriend arrives at the hospital and Adams rushes in to the hospital trying to find Mia. The nurses would not let Adam inside to see her so instead, he sneaks past the nurses and rushes in to the room Mia was in. Adam then started playing a song on his guitar that he wrote for Mia the day before the accident.
The event I think that should be replayed is when Mia finds out that her brother dies. Before Teddy died, Mia told Teddy when he was in a coma that she will always protect him no matter what, and that she will be the best mother/father figure to Teddy. She then told him that she would give up her own life just to save her brother. After Mia finished talking to Teddy her grandma sang him a song so he could wake up. After everyone leaves the room the nurses check on Teddy and they back with depressing news that Teddy had died from brain damage. I think this event should’ve been different because Mia should of have at least one of her family members alive, and its sad thinking that she is the only person in her family left.
The way it should have been is that when Mia came in the room where Teddy was in, after she told him that she would take care of him after he wakes up is that he should’ve held Mia’s hand giving her a sign that he is still alive, and then after that Teddy tells Mia that he loves her. After Mia and Teddy have their moment, the grandparents would come in the room and they would all hug. Later Mia and Teddy’s grandma would sing a song to make them all feel better. This what I think this event should’ve been like instead of it being depressing and sad. I also think this would make the story ten times better.
I read this book last year and absolutely loved it! Thank you for following the requirements of the reading response.

In Beatrice's life there are five factions. Abnegation, Erudite, Amity, Dauntless, and Candor. Beatrice was born into abnegation along with her brother Caleb. In abnegation you are supposed to be selfless. Once you turn 16 you take a test which helps you determine which faction you would like to join. Beatrice was unaware that this test would change her life forever. During her test she received an abnormal test score and was sent home early. This is where her life changed. Beatrice chose dauntless as her new faction. When entering dauntless you are to choose a new name or nickname you want to be called. Beatrice chose her new name to be Tris. Their first test was to jump on the train and then jump off the train and land on the top of a building. While this was happening Tris met a girl named Christina who was from the faction Candor. After landing on the building this was Tris first step to changing herself into a brave and strong woman. In dauntless you must learn to protect the other factions. Every day they do conditions to help strengthen their moves such as… throwing knifes at targets, having fights to see who is strongest, and constantly running. Tris changed from the being because before she was unable to protect herself and she was weak and fragile. Now Tris is strong and knows how to look out for herself against tough situations.

Instant Replay - A Series of Unfortunate Events : Reptile Room
The Baudelaire orphans have gone through so much stuff it wouldn't be a surprise for the people who have read their first book. The orphans, Violet's, Klaus's, and Sunny's, parents were killed in a house fire. Ever since then they have been hoping things would get better but it was hard. After that they were sent to their uncle, Count Olaf who tried to steal the fortune that was soon going to go to Violet once she turned 18 but was after stopped before he could do so. Since then they were sent to live with their other uncle Montgomery Montgomery. They were having the time of their lives but it was shortly ruined. Olaf disguises himself as, Stephano, an assistant for the Baudelaire's uncle. That's when horrible thing once again started to happen.
The point i think the Baudelaire orphans should replay is when "Stephano" arrived in front of their new home and recognized it was Olaf but never called for the cab to take him away. They did nothing but stare at the evil man in shock wondering how he could of possibly found them. Since then, nobody had believed them when they were trying to tell them that Stephano was Count Olaf. They didn't Believe them because he shaved his head, cut off one of his long eyebrows, and covered up his eye tattoo on his left ankle. He was back to get the money that failed to take before. He kept watch over the children and threatened to harm them with a sharp knife he kept in his pocket.
The way i would put have it go is the Baudelaire twins got rid of Count Olaf before he could do anything and they would finally get to live in piece. That way their Uncle Monty wouldn't have been poisoned by Olaf and would still be alive. Also they would've been able to go on the expedition trip to Peru to present the k=new species of snake their uncle discovered.

Star Book Review
The book I read is called Last Year’s Mistake by Gina Ciocca. The main character’s name is Kelsey. Kelsey is a senior and high school and would be counted as a popular girl. Kelsey’s problem is her ex best friend, David, is back in town. Normally people would be happy that their best friend who had to move away is back but there is more to this story. David and Kelsey had a little romance brewing. The problem is she has a boyfriend now and David and she did not leave off on a good note. This leads up to the climax by bringing David and Kelsey together. Since the day David arrived, him and Kelsey started as acquaintances and made their way up to something way more.
One of the techniques the author used to make the novel work was flashbacks in every other chapter. I think this was a great technique because the reader gets to see what happened before to lead up to David and Kelsey having a romantic relationship. What I didn’t like about this technique was that the author didn’t give us much information about how David felt during all of these flashbacks. The author gave us chapters full of Kelsey’s point of view but not Davids. Another part I didn’t like about the authors technique with writing this novel is that she ended it very suddenly. The author didn’t end it on a note to which the reader could easily figure out what happens next. But the author did come up with a very unique way of writing this novel.
This is a very good teen fiction book. I think kids in middle school or high school would enjoy this novel. High and middle schoolers would probably enjoy this read because it isn’t like your typical teen novel and it is not cliché. Another reason why people should read this novel is because it’s raw and it keeps the reader on their toes. I, as a reader, was always trying to figure out whether Kelsey and David were going to keep holding on to what they had or let their relationship go. Last Year’s Mistake was enjoyable while it lasted. I would rate this novel a good four stars.

Dear Greg
I understand your problem you need to find a way to find something to blackmail him with. He doesn’t to deserve to that. And stop doing what he tells you’re to do. It make you into a butler when you grow up. But yeah I know it’s hard but you to step up for yourself. My advice is to stop acting like a kid and toughen up.

Gemma was in the airport buying a coffee waiting for her flight. She suddenly realised that there was a boy staring at her. 'He's probably around my age,' she thought. The cashier was holding her coffee waiting for Gemma to pay for it. He onlu accepts American money but she only has British coins. The boy who was staring at her offered to buy the coffee for her. Ty (the boy) asked her to sit with him. She sat down with him and started to talk about her family and her life in London. Then things tarted to change and Ty had stolen her.
The event I think should be replayed is Gemma sitting down with Ty. If she would have just said, "No, sorry I have to meet my parents now bye." But she didn't and now she's in the middle of the desert in Australia. Gemma tries to escape every chance she gets and everytime Ty catches her. She's always thinking that he's going to kill her but she knows he would have done it already. She's been their for almost two months and she missing home. Ty doesn't believe her and says he'll keep her forever.

Looking for Alaska
By John Green
Culver Creek Boarding School
1.Preppy-A- Miles is preppy because at the beginning of the book he dressed really differently from everyone else and looked like one of the kids who are apart of a team and accuses everyone of something.
2.Humble-A- Miles is humble because he does anything for his friends just nothing too drastic. Once in the book he helped Alaska go to a liquor store to buy more wins.
3.Nice-A+- Miles is nice because he made friends with his roommate the very first day he met him but it was in an awkward way.
4.Studious-A- Miles is studious because over his breaks from school he studied whenever he could at home.
5.Up for anything-A- Miles is up for anything because when his friend Alaska died he agreed along with his other friends to have one last prank in her memory like a memorial , even though they risked getting in trouble.
6.Educated-A+- Miles is well educated because he pays attention in class and gets good grades because of how much studying he does. He has an ability to know famous people’s last words.
7.Understanding -C- Miles is sort of understanding because when his friend Alaska died he did everything he could to figure out why and how she died. It nearly drove him crazy and he never did figure out how or why she died.
8.Forgivable-A- Miles is forgivable because Alaska died and his friend left he forgave them for everything they did.
COMMENT(S)
Miles went through a lot of things in the book to get these character traits. Miles almost died the first week he joined the school by the Weekday Warriors because of who he was making friends with. Miles fell in love with his friend Alaska but she was in a relationship so had no chance with her. Miles grieved Alaska’s death and blamed himself and his friend, the Colonel, for her death. Miles got his first girlfriend, a Russian girl named Lara, but it didn’t last very long because he was in love with Alaska. Miles also helped with pranking, something he’d never done before, and got away with it. Another event that happened in the book was that miles got drunk for the first time. When he got drunk he got to kiss Alaska and she allowed it. These are events that happened to, Miles that earned him the character traits.

COMMENT(S);
Neela went through a lot of things. Neela's grandmother gave her a "special" veena. At the church, Neela's venna goes missing. She tells her parents but they wouldn't do anything about it. So, Neela got no help to find her "missing" veena. Her grandmother tells her that it is a veena that keeps disappering. But, Neela does know how to stop it from disappering. She meets different people and does research on her veena. She finds out that Hal (Mary's husband) is after the veena. Neela and her family fly out to India and Neela gets her veena back. Neela stayed determined. Neela has faced through some threats that people send to her by throwing rocks or writing a short letter. It was a bit hard for Neela to accept Hal's apology after all the things he doe with the veena and threating Neela.
Sounds like an interesting book. Thank you for following the requirements of the reading response.

ReplyDeleteA Long Walk To Water, Linda Sue Park, Growing up is hard to do
It all started off in the small city of Sudan. Salva was in class thinking about some stuff he had to do when he got home and all of a sudden he heard gunshots. They were all cleared out the school and they were told to go to the bush to stay safe. As Salva did this he realized he would not be able to go back home. It was way too dangerous. He now wondered what he would do and would he ever see his family ever again. Salva was just a regular teenage boy that enjoyed to learn and he loved his family. He did a lot to help his family out and they really appreciated this. Over time in the story Salva changed. One major thing in the story happened to make Salva change was when his friend Marial died from the lion at night. This event really scared him. He made sure at night he would watch his back so he wouldn’t end up like his friend. Salva also made a major change when his uncle which controlled the group he was in was killed. This hurt him but he also learned to stay strong from this experience. After his uncle died, as he continued his journey he remembered what his uncle told him. These word of encouragement helped him push on. When Salva got accepted into the refugee camp this made him change because he had to learn to open up and talk to others. By doing this he met a councilor there who voluntarily taught him how to read. He also changed when he found out he was getting a new family in America. The first thing he did when he got home was try to see if his parents were still alive. After that he made plans to go see them as soon as possible. Then he suggested making a foundation or organization to help the poor people in Sudan. He didn’t want to see them struggle. These are some major changes that happened to Salva as time went by in the story

Book:The First Part Last
By:Angela Johnson
The main character in the book is a boy named Bobby. It was Bobby's 16th birthday he skipped school that day with his boys K-Boy and J. L and they will always go to Mineo's for a couple of slices. Then went to the Empire State Building cause he never had before and he says what everyone else saying when they go up there "everybody looks like ants". That night his dad made him his favorite meal cheese fries and ribs at his restaurant. He caught a subway home and he walked very slow because he already knew that his mom had a big cake waiting for him. When he reached there he was full from eating at his dad's restaurant. Later that night Nia his girlfriend came to his door step with a red balloon Nia had something to tell Bobby that night and she looked really upset. Nia was pregnant! Bobby told his parents they been talking about this for years how you have to be responsible and use protection. Bobby mother questioning him "how did this happen"? "Where was you head "? "What the hell are we going to do "? Bobby's father starts to cry.
The author uses certain techniques that makes the novel interesting. Since the book is about a teenager who he going to become a father at the age of 16. The author also describes whatever is going on good, she puts it in detail so they story isn't too boring. The author puts the book in to what happened before to what going on now in the story. In the beginning it was a little confusing because it stated to what happened now then it jumps to what happened before .
If someone doesn't like inoprorete things and using profanity they wouldn't like this book . For the people that do, it would be a great read. And if someone doesn't like to read about how their future mit be like in the world they shouldn't read this book. If someone likes to read young adult realistic books because they wanna know more about how their future mit be like they would love this book. This book is all about realistic life's and futures. I give this book a 5 stars

By:Marissa Meyer
3.Character report card
1.Responsibility B+ Cress can be trusted to do a lot of things but doesn’t like to focus for
too long.
2.Obedient A Cress does what she needs to when told to do something.
3.Confidant D Cress isn’t proud of what she does most of the time.
4.Smart A+ Cress knows alot about computers and can basically hack into
anything.
5.Hopeful A Cress puts a lot of faith in cinder and her friends to save her from the
evil queen.
6.Shy A+ Cress is afraid to talk to new people because she hasn’t had a lot of
human contact.
7.Polite A+ Cress has a lot of manners that she learned to use so she doesn’t
make the queen mad.
8.Excited A+ Cress finds every new thing she sees fascinating.
Comments:The thing that happened in the story was that a group of people that met in the first two books found a girl named Cress. Cress was put in a satellite because she was a shell meaning she had no powers but she was really good with technology. The evil queen put her on a satellite to spy on the people on earth and to keep lunar ships from being detected. The group of people went to save Cress and to rescue her from the satellite but she was caught and sent to crash in earth’s atmosphere with a member from the group.Cress and the guy named Thorne survived and crashed in the African desert. The guy turned blind after he hit his head when they were falling so Cress had to describe everything to him and she was very excited to describe things like trees because she has never seen them in real life before. They were lost until some people found them but Cress was scared of those people and she was already insecure around Thorne because she liked him so she was extra scared about what would happen. Then they found the rest of the group after Cress was kidnapped and Thorne chased after her so that he could save her.
This was my favorite book from the Lunar Chronicles series! The last book in the series comes out in a few weeks.

2.Kindness: A. Gray Wing is kind to every cat in each clan.
3.Tolerance: B-. Gray Wing may be able to keep himself under control when Tall Shadow and Jagged Peak treat him like he's weak, but sometimes he's unable to hold back his anger.
4.Honesty: A. Gray Wing tells the truth even if he or his friends have to pay the consequences.
5.Respect: B. Gray Wing gives respect where respect is deserved, but if a cat gets on his nerves, they might lose his respect.
6.Bravery: A. Gray Wing risked his own life when he ran into a forest fire to save his brother.
7.Intelligence: A. Gray Wing always thinks things through before going through with anything.
8.Responsibility: C. Gray Wing can be forgetful at times, and he is irresponsible when it comes to his health. But he is responsible when it comes to taking care of his kits and his clanmates.
-----Comments-----
Throughout the story, Gray Wing has been loyally abiding by his leader, Tall Shadow's rules. But she and Gray Wing's brother Jagged Peak didn't show him as much respect as he showed them. Gray Wing had saved his brother from a fire which had damaged his throat, making it hard for Gray Wing to breathe at some times. This caused Jagged Peak and Tall Shadow to see him as weak and useless. When Gray Wing had volunteered to set and lead a hunting patrol, Jagged Peak and Tall Shadow had both accused him of constantly trying to take over and lead the clan himself, and Jagged Peak said he was too weak to hunt. Having enough of the disrespect, Gray Wing ran away from the camp to stay with another group of cats.

Book : The Fault in ours stars.
By: John Green
The main characters are Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters.Hazel is a girl she sadly has cancer. She's
different than any ordinary girl. Hazel Grace loves to read books, and likes to watch movies. On the other hand she not social at all. As a result, August Waters is a boy he's funny, he,s social and likes making friends. Augustus is just a chill person. Soon they both get too meet each other , they exchange numbers. Then soon more in the book they fall in love and become boyfriend and girlfriend.
Well, I think the author should have put in ore details of how Augustus died. But other than that the book was amazing . I think the author proved his point which was that we all need to live life because we never know when
it's going to end. As a result, I had no problems with the book.
The I read was amazing. The author did an amazing job with this book. It's very interesting , there is a couple of
sad things that made me cry. The book ( The Fault In Ours) is a loving book. It inspired me too live life because it doesn't last forever. The book talks about how two kids have cancer and it doesn't matter what people think, and to be happy. And for that i give this book a five stars for rating.
Please make sure you proofread your work. Your errors are a bit distracting to the message in your response. Also, your response is a bit vague. Also, pay attention to the sentence requirements when completing a reading response.

The police came knocking on her mom’s door and started to ask questions of the incident.Devon could not handle the pressure so she fainted. When she woke up in the hospital, she was frightened, confused, and worried, she did not want the doctors to find out she was pregnant. The doctors had to check her “private parts” because that was the source of the bleeding (which is why she passed out). She tried her hardest to resist but was to weak and decided to finally just give into the doctors and let them do their job. She was then sent to court with a lousy lawyer who didn’t even to acknowledge her. She is very nervous that she may get sent to prison for attempted murder.

Sophie Amundsen, high school student, lives in road Clover 3 of a city in Norway, has a friend, Jorunn, with which it shares its secrets.
One day after returning from class is a card in the mailbox, but it is addressed to a girl named Hilde Moller Knay c / o Sophie Amundsen, 3 Clover Trail Card to congratulate the 15th birthday of the girl's father writes the girl, who is in the army major nations joined prominent in Lebanon. Sofia has received another letter which is addressed to anonymously so that it takes longer and still while reaching letters, those letters talking about philosophy, you were asking questions to her on that subject was much confusion for her.
The author uses the techniques of the history of philosophy, every major philosopher treatment give the reader more knowledge about this great subject, which most of us ask and try to give us an answer to theories that drew philosophers. To improve this reading the author I should have talked about each philosopher on the issue because it was one of the most famous in history.
I love this book because it gives me a lot of knowledge about philosophy and a possible answer to many questions I had and that no one could answer me, I think we need more interest on the story this book really helped young people to be interested more and can be a more efficient youth, therefore I give this book 5 stars.
Good start.

Book: Looking For Alaska
Autor: John Green
The main character in the book is young named Miles. He was 16, and his hobby is memorize period last words before dying poets. He was not very known in his school, but did not mind at all, because all I wanted is to go to study in another school away from their parents to find their " Great Perhaps'. The school was located in Alabama , and that's when the adventure begins and change. He met a couple of people who radically changed their thinking .But he meets a young woman who did much of his change , his name is Alaska, a 16 years and it takes much longer at that school. They two become fast friends and Alaska teaches to him things he never thought he would do in his life. Those things he never thought to do, it's a big joke, but he did not know is that it was the last thing I would do together, before a terrible event, ended the lives of Alaska. And start the search and investigation of why she died.
The techniques used by the author is trying to convey mystery over the death of Alaska, trying to convey love, for Miles slowly falling in love with Alaska, tries to convey humor, because some characters are very funny, they are also remember some great poets. What should work more was the end , and it was very loose and very unfair not to tell what happened after that everything came to light , I would have liked to know what happened in a few years , a lifetime of Alaska, what happened to school and what happened with Miles. The author also work fine part to surprise, nobody expected that Alaska died after everything that had happened, Then it was very unexpected And transmits at the end a very nice reflection.
This book would enjoy a lot of people who like mystery, research and draw many hypothesis that if people are willing to read a bit of humor, and a little adventure before reaching it actually is, death Alaska, since before reaching this talk about many of the life of a few characters, and they develop problems during the time they worked on. I do not think people would enjoy and impatient people waiting that each page has mystery, because a book is slow, but when you read it calmly, you can enjoy every one of his words. And my punctuation for this book is 5 stars. I recommend it!
Great start.

So unlucky, but that’s what you get for planning to stay inside every day of summer vacation and not try to make some money for something at lees. He is not active at all and he is lazy on top of it all so no one could hire him to do a job for them. There was this one time he got a job to cut a neighbor lawn. He cut the lawn but he left dog poop in places of the yard so he didn’t get payed and his dad had to finish doing it. Greg is respectful at some times but to his brother Rodrick nope. Title: Ties that Bind
Author: Lensey Namioka
Option #6: Star book Review
Ailin lived in China in the year 1911. It was a tradition of the girl who come from a good family for their feet would be bound. Ailin did not want her feet to be binded she wanted her independence. She has to make great choices for designing her freedom.
The Tang Dynasty is part of ladies feet being binded as tradition about 900 AD. The girls whose feet are bound must dance on their toes like a ballet dancer. The practice was done by only rich women.
The climax of the story is when the main character had to fight her way of not getting binded. It did not mater what age group it was for the binding. Many women are afraid of their feet because they cannott move the bandages because of the pain that which resulted by the binding. Often her grandmother would get upset if she sees her in the binding. Everything the family moved to America and her life changed. Also her parents showed change in their eating styles. When they got the Chinese food, Hanwei has to hide a smile as she watched her mother ate. They have become modern and forgotten to accept unbound feet.
The techniques the author uses to make the novel work in that she expresses the mood of the characters ! For example on page 19 when grandma and ‘’some babies are engaged before they are even born “. She laughed because what if they are both girls. Grandma referred to her not to be “stupid”. They would have to cancel the wedding. Ailin`s father always try to resist the idea of her child feet to be bound. He showed sadness on his face.
In paragraph 3, the person who would not enjoy the book are students who do not understand Chinese culture. It is ironic that her uncle would not contribute to his ow mother’s funeral. In the American culture on the other hand the family would help. Also he did not cry at his own mother funral.
There are many idioms in the strory which are new to me. For example a “mixture of joy and bitterness and “ she stole a glance at me.” Finally, in the story children of my age liketo read books with caption, pictures and action. They may not understand the part when the author states that Ailin’s mother was living in the house for threes years with foreign devils.” Page 135.
Are these your thoughts completely? You should not get information from other sources to complete a response. The response should be based strictly off of your knowledge after reading the book.
DeleteAlso, the third paragraph should be your opinion of the book. Where is it?

PART 2
In my trailer I chose 11 pictures each of my pictures have a purpose of being there. I dont really have to explain because when you watch my trailer there is captions under every picture explaining there purpose and why they are there. But here is a breif summary of some of them now. The first few pictures jsut describe the excitment of the family and how happy they are. The next few describe the hur of the family and the tragic inccident of the white man coming to their home and basicaaly saiying "why would you wanna live somewhere you are not wnated" In one of the images Ruth also shows how happy she is to tell MaMa about the new baby she is expecting . The other image the family shows how thankful they are for MaMa buying them the new house and they cherish her with gifts, The next image the family finds out that Walter went on and spent all the family's money even Bennie's school money to inets in the liquor store nad then comes to find out his other business partner jacked all his money. In the end the last picture represents that with determination the family did not let anyone or anthing stand in the way of them moving forward in life and so i chose the song in my trailer because it went with the pace of the trailer.
Shakeria, you did an awesome job. Check your conventions though, you spelled "Raisin" wrong and "there" should be "their" in your second sentence.

ReplyDeleteThe book I read was "What my Girlfriend Dosen't Know" the main character is Robin Murphy. He's the loser at his high school. Ninth-grader Robin struggles with being an outsider at his high school and dealing with the joys of having a girlfriend, Sophie, and seeing his artistic talent recognized by his teacher and parents.Due to the dynamics of high school social interaction, Sophie is rejected by her friends because she chose the school loser as her boyfriend. This is familiar territory for Robin, but new to Sophie. To make matters worse Robin is accepted into a special drawing class at Harvard University where he is readily accepted by the other art students. He is amazed to realize they do not care that he is “only” a high school student or that he is an outcast in school. One of the girls in Robin's drawing class, Tessa, falls for him as well, and he is conflicted about being attracted to two girls at once, especially since Tessa is a “college woman”.
The author, Sonya Sones, masterfully creates a book in verse that throws the reader into the depths of the character’s soul. With her amazing poetry, the voice of Robin is so strikingly real and full of self-doubt. The novel swings back and forth between the present and the past. The present represents the time after Robin and Sophie are a couple. The past represents the time leading up to them becoming a couple. The point of view of this novel is intimate, allowing a reader to connect closely with the main character, Robin Murphy. The book written in this manner allows the reader to get inside Robin's head, thoughts and inner struggles.
This book would catch the eye of middle and high schoolers, because the book is something that teenagers can relate to. Sonya Sones writes in such a creative way that I could not put the book down. "What my Girlfriend Dosen't Know" is a truly enjoyable and fast-paced read. Her story feels so rich and full of life, and it’s amazing what she can do with so few words. Robin is an authentic male teen voice whose struggle is often heartbreaking, realistic and funny. I rate this book a good 5 stars it's one of the best books i've read so far

Book: A Long Walk To Water
Star book review
Author: Linda Sue Park
The main character in this book was named Salva Dut. Salva problem is when he is at school and is got attacked. When that happened, Salva got separated from his family. So Salva had to travel by him self until he fond his uncle. Later, his uncle got shot by terrorist. Salva was really sad when he got shot.
The techniques the author used to make the story some criticism is figurative language. And she also add a person in 2010 to back when Salva was a kid. Linda added some of her things and almost all the things what happen to Salva when he was growing up. Linda Sue Parks trys to make the story a little more interesting by adding a little of now and back than to the story. Linda also puts things that are very interesting so the reader would read the story. The story has a lot of figurative language so it would be a little more better for the reader to keep reading the story.
I liked the book because it was a awesome true story about Salva traveling on his own and get separated by his family. I would think the people who read this book would like this book because its a true story and its vary interesting to read. This book was sad, happy, and amazed of what happen in the story. I would like to keep on reading this book and would like to meet them. This story was really good and want you to keep on reading till the end. This book is a great story on how the author put things now to back than. I think this book is a rating of a 5 star rating.
You were to choose a book other than the summer reading novels or "A Raisin in the Sun". Either way, I'll accept it this time.

You were to choose a book other than the summer reading novels and "A Raisin in the Sun". Either way, I'll accept it this time but which reading response option is this? It doesn't follow any of the outlined options. Please follow the requirements.

Book:The lightning Thief
author: Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson was a young normal boy who went to middle school. Percy first encounter was a monster that was going to kill Percy. When Percy first realized that he was a demi-god he had a place to stay at was at Camp Half Blood. When Percy met friends, he was happy, so that we won't be lonely, and when Percy was playing a game that were the Ares team v.s the Athena team, he found out that he had water power and that he was the son of Posiden. Percy and his friends had a quest to find the lighting bolt within ten days or Percy was going to get punished for the crime that he didn't do. When they finally got the bolt, Percy had to turn the bolt by himself in order to give it to the gods.
The techniques for this book was a story line for a character that was in trouble. The book had a lot of figurative language, action, humor, and sad at the same time. There was parts that made you excited that wanted to make you read more. The author used ways to make things a lot detailed, you can imagine what is going on in the book, and you can tell the characters' are helping each other to past a quest. The book needed some information during some parts of the book that needed some. When you help friends, they will help back, and can change stuff.
The stuff I liked in the book was it was interesting, very fun to read, a lot of action, and loving. You should read this book because if you like action, gods, goddess, and adventure then this book will be great for reading. This book was one of my favorite series of books, and a lot of people also like this book. There was a lot of fighting, magic, that was awesome that people would enjoy reading the book. I would rate this book five stars because it was nice to read.
Great job! Thank you for following the requirements as outlined in the reading response options.

Star book review
The main character of this book is Hazel Grace, she lamentably has lung cancer , she's a very quiet person, but she has a different mindset as regular people she thinks that it doesn't matter what goodness you do in this world, the day that you day everybody is going to forget who you were and what you did, she think we all going to die and everybody is going to be forgotten.
One day her mom asked her to go to this cancer support group , she definitely didn't want to go but she did it just for her parents.
Hazel met this guy at the support group Augustus Water, he lost part of his leg with cancer but apparently its cured. Hazel and Augustus kept talking and knowing each other till they fell in love with each other. every time they knew more things about each other.
Hazel talks to him about her favorite author , she tells him how she would love to meet him and talk to him for a little , Augustus contacts her favorite author and the author invites them to come meet him so Hazel and Augustus went to meet him , On that journey Hazels mindset changes completely , she thinks different about life and in part Augustus helped her a lot to open her eyes so she could see everyday as a new journey

Book: Divergent
Author: Veronica Roth
The book I read was about a girl named Beatrice Prior. She is a curious 16 year-old that wants more excitement in her life. There are five factions Eurdite, Daughtness, Abnegation, Candor, and Amity. Beatrice had too close one. She shows that she either wants to be Eurdite, Abengation, or Daughtness. That makes her a divergent. She end up choosing Daughtness. Later Beatrice changes her name to Tris because she wanted to start her life over. She goes through all her stages and manages to get by. Later she finds out that the Eurdite wants to overthrow Abnegation and mind control divergent by doing so. Thats Divergent book number one.
I really liked this book. I will give it a five star rating especially if you want a action packed thiller. I am just now reading the sequel and I'm enjoying it already!!
